Osteoarthritis of the knee or gonarthrosis

Supported by the medical profession, from October 2018 to April 2019, this study focused on patients suffering from gonarthrosis, before, during and after wearing a magneto-active orthosis (knee brace made up of therapeutic magnets).

With results well above what patients and doctors could have expected, an average 4.11-point reduction in the pain threshold achieved in just 3 months, and a significant reduction in patients' use of oral medication, Auris magnetic therapy is once again proving its effectiveness, opening up genuinely encouraging prospects for the thousands of sufferers who will now be able to rely on this effective, natural alternative with no undesirable side-effects.

Osteoarthritis of the knee: hundreds of millions of people affected

Affecting the joints, osteoarthritis causes pain and deformation, stiffness and difficulty in moving. By 2050, an estimated 315 million people over the age of 60 will be affected by this disease, 105 million of whom will be severely disabled.

As a part of the body that is subject to extreme stress, the knee is naturally prone to this pathology (known as gonarthrosis), a phenomenon that is amplified by the ageing of the population and the increase in obesity. Until now, two methods have been recommended to alleviate the condition:

• Surgery: in the United States in 2009, surgeons performed 686,000 knee replacements, and projections predict that 1,520,000 prostheses will be implanted in 2020 and 3,480,000 in 2030.
• Medicinal treatments: in France, neither symptomatic slow-acting anti-arthrosics (AASAL or SYSADOA) nor hyaluronic acids are reimbursed by the Social Security, which considers that the medical service rendered is not sufficient to justify reimbursement by the national authorities. In addition, the use of anti-inflammatory drugs is frequently limited by undesirable gastrointestinal, cardiac and renal effects, particularly in elderly people who are already subject to various treatments.

Treating gonarthrosis with therapeutic magnets

The GONALGIS study demonstrated a powerful analgesic effect, sometimes very rapid (in just a few days) but usually rapid (in 1 month) and, for some patients, slow (in 2 months maximum), of this magneto-active orthosis in subjects with severe osteoarthritis of the knee. The positive effect of magnetic therapy on pain has led to a very significant reduction in the use of analgesics, confirming that the two primary and secondary objectives set by Auris have been achieved.
